Lower Falls Redevelopment Project Almonte, Ontario

by

In December of 2009 Albarrie Geocomposites Ltd. was hired by M Sullivan and Son to install our SorbWeb Plus secondary oil containment system. It was a Mississippi River Power Corporation project in Almonte, Ontario and was a very sensitive area in that the new transformers were adjacent to the falls in the centre of town.

There were 2 containments constructed using concrete perimeter walls that would contain the oil from 2 transformers each having 3,177 and 4,220 liters respectfully.

The impermeable liner was attached to the perimeter walls as well as the interior concrete transformer pads using plastic strapping and concrete anchors.

The Oilmat was cut and fitted then glued using silicone caulking to the impermeable liner.

The upper side of the Oilmat is glued in the same way and the impermeable liner is pulled down and neatly fitted and trimmed at all corners.

The additional layers of the SorWeb Plus system are installed.

A silicone caulking bead is installed along the impermeable liner attachment to complete a total containment seal.

Fire quenching stone is placed to the design height to finish a completed project.
